Dennis Michael Murthum, age 65, of North Branch, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday April 10, 2013. Dennis was born July 31, 1947, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, to Harold and Virginia (Ward) Murthum. Mr. Murthum served his country during the Vietnam War, as a field mechanic and field medic, in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Dennis was proud of his military service, he enjoyed anything to do with the military and also served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Reserves He married Carolyn McCarthar on November 9, 1978. Mr. Murthum loved putting together models of all sorts....airplanes, trucks, cars.. he paid attention to even the smallest details as he assembled his models. Dennis also worked for Mold Masters and General Motors. He loved his dogs..Simba, Bubba, Sam and Belle.

Dennis is survived by his wife: Carolyn Murthum of North Branch; children: Dennis Murthum II, Michele (Tom) McCord of Lapeer, Harold (Becky) Murthum of Howell, Wayne (fiancé Theresa) Murthum of Lapeer and Robyn Murthum of North Branch; mother: Virginia Murthum of Utica; grandchildren: Brandon, Wyatt, Bryce and Zoe; siblings: Todd (Barb) Murthum of Rochester and Sherry (Ron) Miller of Washington. Mr. Murthum was preceded in death by 2 infant children and his father: Harold Murthum.

Visitation for Dennis will be 4-8 PM Friday, April 12, 2013 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Mr. Murthum's funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday at the funeral home, followed immediately by military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
